All’s fair in love and war,
How many times have you heard that,
But has it ever crossed your mind,
That it can be unfair as well?

All’s well that ends well,
But still, a question pokes at me,
If all’s well that ends well,
Why do we sit here being grumpy?

Count your blessings,
But how can I?
They are so magnified that
I just can’t help being as blind as a bat.

Easy as pie,
But I still think,
After all this hard work,
That a pie is certainly not easy to make.

You are what you eat,
I hope not…,
Because if I was what I ate,
I would have been an eggplant.

Liebster Award + Random Story + Poem

Ok, so this is a long post I am going to be delivering after some time. And I know you are all wondering what happened to my long-forgotten novel updates, and I am thoroughly sorry to say I have been so busy that I have not been able to attend to my novel.

I know, I know. I could have completed it in April when I was not so busy, but the usual procrastination held in… Anyways, I did write Chapter 1 though… but that is not what this post is about.

Rather, this post is about an award I received from a wonderful blogger, a short story that I conjured up in my sleep (I wish I had really done that…), and a poem. So, buckle up, because this is going to be a long post, a rarity on my blog!

  • 1. Blogger Award: The Liebster Award

  • 2. Random Short Story

  • 3. Poem!

A book.  I love books. 😀

Random Story

The Encounter

A single light illuminated the dark interior of the room. A shadow flitted across the glazed, black walls of the bank. It was barely conceivable that the figure was human, but my sharp eyesight did well to support me. The figure walked a few steps and then stopped in front of me. Then a candlelight flickered as the figure came in full sight. Our eyes bore into each other as we faced each other. For a moment, time stopped as we bore into each other, glaring like red-eyed lions. Then, drawing me out of my trance, action took place. I drew my arrow. He drew his arrow. I knocked my arrow. He knocked his arrow. I aimed. He aimed. And, then, as we both attempted to release our missiles, a piercing scream resounded in our ears. I was toppled back, down on the cold, hard tiles of the room. But, now, my eyes bore not into a rival’s stone-hard, red-scarred eyes; but, instead, into a battle-hardened, lemon-coloured eyes of a panther.

How true. 🙂

The screams in the wilderness,

The rushing of the wind in the lone ear,

The waiting of an intense

Emotion, encompassing.

The searching for something

A skill unknown to others,

And at times,

To yourself.

The power that unleashes

Itself in the dreary moments.

The feeling that overtakes the mind,

Rendering it powerless.

The emotions capable of,

Killing the heart,

Making it ice-cold,

Removing the fire,

Along with it the feelings, grief, and joy.

The knowledge that saves you

In the eleventh hour.

Wondering what it is,

I wait for it to be unleashed from me.

Thanks for reading guys! Hope you enjoyed this post. Have a great day! 🙂

Haibun: Summer Solstice

It is arranged in a sophistical way; yet, it all seems so unsophisticated. The ephemeral day has ended; yet, it has all but ended. The rays hit my forehead creating a humid atmosphere. I watch as the sun ascends to the highest point it will ever reach this year. Then, I smile. It is truly a sight. This sunrise, spewing out its flames and basking in its glory, will be a sight I will be waiting to see again. Now, only the sunset to go.

rainbow, ephemeral,

in its own sense, a sunset,

reminiscing solstice.

Written for Heeding Haiku With Chèvrefeuille.

Golden Days

A laugh that passes through my ears,

As  I recollect those days back again,

And now that a golden time fades into bronze,

Memories are made and forgotten—

While regret and other memories are born anew.

The Sky

An expanse limited to the naked eye,

Spreading over everything,

Containing the moon, precious,

Containing the sun, illuminating,

Containing the stars, holding our dreams.
